Captain Henry Gallaugher DSO
In August 2013 the Inniskillings Museum received the collection of Captain Henry Gallaugher’s effects from the family.
Henry Gallaugher was commissioned into the Inniskilling Fusiliers in 1914 and was killed at Messines Ridge on 7th June 1917 when gallantly leading his men in action with the 11th battalion Inniskilling Fusiliers.
These are some of the artefacts in the collection.
- Capt Gallaugher’s Spirit Flask
The collection is very comprehensive and illustrates the short life of a very gallant man. We are most appreciative for this generous gift given by the family. For more on Capt Gallaugher please see our previous articles.
Snaffles Prints
We were delighted when the museum was presented with a set of six ‘Snaffles’ prints by Sir David Lorrimer at an event held in May 2013. It is anticipated that they will be displayed during our World War One commemorations commencing later this year (2014). These are some of the prints.
We thank Sir David for this generous gift.
